Which teen turned himself in for the death of a cheerleader?”
MANATEE — The 18-year-old man charged with shooting a Bayshore High School cheerleader to death is being held without bond after going before Judge Doug Henderson this morning. Daniel Floyd Williams of Palmetto turned himself in late Saturday at the sheriff’s office after he heard detectives were searching for him to arrest him on a murder warrant. He is charged with second degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Jazmine Thompson late Friday night. Thompson was shot while she was sitting in the back seat of her friend’s car near Southeast High School in Bradenton around 11:00 p.m. on Friday. Thompson had just cheered earlier in the evening when Bayshore played Manatee High in a Friday night football game at Manatee. Investigators say Thompson, along with two other classmates from Bayshore, picked up another friend who is a student at Southeast. Deputies say Williams, who knew one of the girls, started having a conversation with them. They will not give details about the conversation but do say it was not an argument.
