Which teams have won the Rugby World Cup?
New Zealand won the inaugural World Cup with victory against France; while their neighbours Australia lifted the trophy in 1991 with a 12-6 win over England. South Africa beat New Zealand in 1995 as the game turned professional, but Australia reclaimed the trophy in ’99. England enjoyed one of their finest sporting triumphs in 2003 courtesy of a dramatic 20-17 win against the Aussies. But four years later, England failed to retain the title despite reaching the final – they lost to South Africa 15-6.
