The Hurricanes (9-3, 5-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) have accepted an invitation to play in the Champs Sports Bowl against 24th-ranked Wisconsin (9-3, 5-3 Big 10) on Dec. 29 at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando. The game begins at 8 p.m. and will be televised by ESPN. The Hurricanes, who rose Sunday to No. 14 in The Associated Press rankings, No. 15 in the coaches’ poll and No. 15 in the final BCS standings, have not played a bowl game in Florida since they defeated Florida State in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 1, 2004 — after the 2003 season. “We’re ecstatic to have such a great opportunity to play Wisconsin,” UM coach Randy Shannon said. “Our following in-state has been great.
