Which states use a centralized collection unit for collecting traffic fines?
Arizona: Payment of traffic fines is through the FARE program. The FARE project has increased collections on outstanding debt by $56 million. Delaware: Fines/costs can be paid by mail/fax/phone. These are mainly handled through a single centralized statewide voluntary assessment center that is part of the justice of the peace court system. Guam: The Traffic Violations Bureau acts as the “Central Collections Unit.” Hawaii: Does not have a centralized collection unit. Maine: The Judicial Branch Violations Bureau serves as a centralized collections unit. Missouri: The Missouri State Fine Collection Center (FCC) is authorized by section 476.385, RSMo and Missouri Supreme Court Rule 38. The FCC began operating on July 1, 1999. It is the centralized bureau that processes most routine traffic tickets for any Missouri county that wishes to join the program. Currently, 88 of Missouri’s 114 counties participate in the FCC program. Nevada: Does not have a centralized collection unit. New Hampshir
