Colorado does not require liability insurance for any 49cc ‘motorized bicyle.’ This is a category that includes mopeds and scooters limited to 30 MPH. It’s been that way for decades. However, the state legislature has just passed a $29/year vehicle-weight tax on these vehicles and is considering a bill that will require insurance on these vehicles. It looks like it will pass, but I only use my moped a few miles a year. I’d like the bill to fail and am looking for information to support that. Thanks!
