friendships are meant to come in and out our lives! your circle of friends will most likely change as you grow , interest change and your freinds will change as you find yourself in this world

I believe it is a little bit of both. In life, we all go through things and sometimes people are excluded due to the things. But, if you have been friends with someone for a long time, you have to expect some growing pains.

Both statements are true. There are many reasons why people return back in your life:

1. they truly miss you/ the departure was unintentional (a true friend)

2. to use you

3. for them to either learn from you or for you to learn from them (destined return)

In the same since this is why some friends come and go.
