Which Spanish speaking country should a prospective foreign exchange student visit?
It depends on your own personality. I’d check on the American Field Service (AFS) foreign exchange website and it will give you the background, history, and information about all the Spanish-speaking countries accepting exchange students. I adored Spain when I was there, however, that is not the same as South American Spanish (although it’s still Spanish, and each country has it’s own slang and accents). My daughter is 16 and currently a foreign exchange student in Chile, and she is having a blast. Check out AFS, though, as they are one of the oldest and most reliable exchange programs out there — and, you can even get on the website and talk to a “real” person (instant message) about any questions you have — we found it extremely helpful.
