Which snakes make the best pets?
Corn snakes, garter snakes, king snakes, some kinds of rat snakes make very good pets. Corns are usually very sweet natured and are wonderful as far as feeding goes. You almost never have to worry about a regular, non-morph corn not eating, except during mating season. I know of many people who bought an albino corn and ended up having a ton of trouble getting it to eat! So if you do buy a morph, make sure the snake is eating well before you buy. They are easy to feed and clean up after, although they tend to poop a lot. I had to clean up after mine about two to three times a week. Garter snakes are messier and like to eat fish, so they can be stinkier. They are amazing to watch while swimming around after fish prey. they are good for people who feel sorry for cute little rodents getting eaten because they don’t have to be fed an all rodent diet. They like earthworms, fish, and very small mice. They do stay quite small and are one the shortest lived snake commonly kept as pets. this is
