I don’t believe that any ski resorts or ski areas in Colorado are open in September. Two ski areas race to see which one will open first; Loveland Ski Area and Arapahoe Ski Area. Generally they open mid to late October. However, Loveland Ski Area became the first ski area in North America to open for the 2009/2010 ski season when they opened October 7, 2009. It was all on man made snow covering 18″ deep and a 1000′ vertical run. The majority of ski resorts and ski areas try to open for Thanksgiving week (the third Thursday in November).
