News4 learned that the shooting took place at the home of an official with the International Monetary Fund. The victim had just pulled into his garage at about 7:30 p.m. in the 6800 block of Millwood Road when police said a masked gunman shot him before the victim could open his car door. Police said the victim is a 54-year-old man. He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. Police are looking for a man with a medium build who was wearing a black hoodie. He reportedly was seen wearing a black mask. Walt Whitman High School and Thomas Pyle Middle School were locked down while police searched the area. Students inside the high school for an event were told to turn off lights and lie on the floor.

At about 10:20 p.m., a man walked into the Wachovia branch in the 3600 block of King Street, approached a teller, displayed a firearm and demanded money, police said. The man fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police searched the area with the help of K-9 units. T.C. Williams High School, T.C. Williams Minnie Howard and Francis Hammond Middle School were locked down as a precaution while police searched. Officers took a person of interest into custody for questioning, police said. No one was harmed in the robbery.
