Which schools are considered Minority Academic Institutions (MAI)?
• My school is a two-year institution. Do I qualify? Yes. Students who are currently enrolled in a two-year MAI, and who will be entering at a four year MAI the following year are eligible for the fellowship. • What type of assistance do Fellows receive? The fellowship provides up to $17,000 per year. Your tuition and academic fees, up to $10,000 per year, will be paid directly to the institution. You will receive a monthly stipend check in the amount of $500 for a nine month period; and $2,500 for expenses such as books, and supplies. A maximum of $34,000 will be provided during the two year tenure. • How many years does this award cover? This award provides financial support for the final two years of study, beginning in the Fall 2004. Students with less than two years remaining towards their Bachelor degree are not eligible. • Is the summer internship a requirement for this award? YES!
