Which rocks will react to the vinegar (ethanoic acid)?
marble, chalk, and limestone are all related and will be dissolved by vinegar (dilute acetic acid). The posting above me is definitely wrong. One of the problems with a marble kitchen counter top is the fact that vinegar spilled on it, as in salad dressing, will etch the surface. Marble and chalk are forms of limestone.
