Which renewable energy sources would not cause pollution and which source would cause pollution for exam?
Basically, for the purposes of an exam it comes down to the following: 1) Energy sources which convert one form of energy into Electricity generally don’t pollute – I.e. wind power (Kinetic Energy), Solar (visible wavelength energy), Tide turbines (another type of Kinetic Energy), etc. 2) Energy sources which conver matter into energy either chemically or via nuclear methods have residue which is considered to be pollution. Ie. you can burn wood, or garbage to create heat to boil water to spin a turbine and you still end up with smoke and ash. Two exceptions – nuclear fusion which combines deuterium (heavy hydrogen) where the result is a huge amount of energy and water. You can then make more deuterium out of the water. However, at the moment it isn’t a net plus system (making the fuel takes more energy than fusing it) so it isn’t practical. The other is burning Hydrogen which when done in presence of Oxygen leaves water. Again making hydrogen takes to much energy and it is extremely h
