Which red wines have the least tannin content?
Modern wine is generally made in a way that minimizes tannin extraction. The exception is press wine, which will be more tannic, so avoid anything so marked. One readily avoidable source of tannins in wine is the casks in which it’s aged. Beaujolais is either not aged in casks or minimally aged, less than a year, so it is less tannic. Tannins help the wine age well, so an aged wine is likely to be highly tannic. Wines called any of these: astringent, mature, chewy; will be more tannic than a wine called balanced, which will probably be more tannic than a wine called soft. Merlot is generally softer than Cabernet. Sources: http://www.brysons.net/wine/red.
