Poodles are great because they’re very intelligent and easy to train. They’re also friendly and good with kids. A dog very rarely instantly gets along with a cat, unless they’ve grown up together. However, you’re cat is fairly young which is in your favour. Introduce a new dog gradually to the cat. Keep him separated like through a mesh screen or a gate, but allow the cat to sniff the dog and suss him out. Keep the dog calm so he doesn’t scare the cat. After a few of these sessions, have the cat and dog in the same room. Keep your dog on a lead so he can’t chase the cat. Keep him quiet. Don’t force that cat to go near the dog (this will scare him), just let him do it at his own pace. When the cat goes near the dog, make sure you reward/punish the dogs behaviour appropriately. If he bites the cat or barks, say NO! If he nuzzles the cat softly, wags his tail and acts calmly and quietly, tell him “good boy” and give him a treat (occasionally, otherwise he expects them all the time). Keep
