Which processor gives faster overall performance, AMD or Intel?
It really depends on the software you’re using. Depending on how a piece of software is written and how it is compiled will make a huge difference in which is faster. Both chips have their own advantages and disadvantages. AMD chips have a better design; they have faster on-chip memory controllers and a better multi core design. Intel chips have a better manufacturing process that allows them to fit more transistors on one chip, allowing them to run faster, be more energy efficient and more overclock friendly. Both do certain tasks better than the other, and are for the most part equal in the end. In any case, the importance of CPU performance is overrated. The major bottle neck in any system today is main memory and physical storage devices (hard disk, DVD drive, etc). While CPU performance is increasing at an outrageous rate, memory and data storage are still stuck in the stone age.
