Which printers is better, HP or EPSON?

It just depends on your use and which models you are looking at. The Epson home series (the Stylus series) uses separate ink tanks for the color (CMY) and black (K). So there are four separate cartridges. This can be a cost savings as it is rare that you run out of, say Cyan and Yellow at the same time. At the same time, although HP puts all three colors in one cartridge they also replace the actual printer head with these. So, that’s one less thing that may go out. Anecdotally I have noticed that people tend to trust HP more. When you’re dealing with lasers, HPs cost much more than others in cost per page. In my personal experience though they seem to be very reliable. The best thing to do is go to your local office supply or technology shop and see if they can do an actual demo for you. If you’re looking for an AIO (all-in-one) bring a document and a photo you can copy on the machines to see how it looks.
