Which Pocket PC device is best for reading Microsoft Reader formatted texts?
This is a debatable question and one that varies depending on what is most important to you when reading. The iPaq is generally regarded as being the “fastest” Pocket PC, with the latest Casio a close second and the Jornada 545/8 further behind. Personally comparing the screens of all Pocket PCs showed me that the iPaq was arguably the cleanest, crispest. However, when Microsoft Reader is used — employing sub-pixel font rendering or Microsoft’s ClearType technology — a fundamental difference arises between the three Pocket PC devices. The Casio EM-500 and the iPaq have RGB pixels that are aligned vertically, whereas the Jornada 545/8 has pixels aligned horizontally. The demonstration Web page below shows that the Jornada 545/8 devices generate the clearest and most readable pages when using MS Reader. Going to this Web page will show you close up the fundamental differences between the devices and the quality of the output they generate when MS Reader is being used. http://www.voscor
