Don’t quote me! I think you’ll find that a large percentage of policemen in Boston are originally Irish. The Scots mainly went to Canada. Before Obama, most US Presidents, starting with Kennedy, have tried to claim Irish ancestry. One Irish music group composed a song early this year claiming that Obama was also an Irish descendant – although they spelt the name O’Bama. The reason why so many Irish made their way to the USA is directly related to Great Britain’s mismanagement and total unconcern when the potato blight hit the Irish island.
