The manufacturer has the freedom to choose any other specification the use of which to his opinion gives compliance with the applicable essential requirements . However, when using this other standard(s) it is the responsibility of that manufacturer to prove he has acted according to the relevant procedure(s) on conformity assessment (including Technical File Route and Full Quality Assurance) when requested to do so by the relevant authorities.
