Which of the two methods used in measuring the volume of the cylinder cup is more accurate? Why?
Which two methods are you talking about, here? I can think of more than two ways: 1) Weigh the cup empty, fill it, then weigh it again. Use the difference to calculate water mass, then use the density of the water to calculate the volume. 2) Fill the cup. Pour the contents into a graduated cylinder and measure the volume. 3) Fill a graduated cylinder with water. Pour the water into the cup until full. Determin the difference between the initial volume and final volume of the graduated cylinder as the volume of the cup. 4) Heat the cup until all the water evaporates away. Measure the amount of heat needed to raise the water temperature to boiling and measure the amount of heat added as latent heat of vaporization and calculate the mass of water converted. 5) Freeze the water in the cup. Remove the ice and determine it’s volume based upon either direct physical measurements or by water displacement in 32 degree water. Then calculate the volume of the ice in the form of water by dividing
