Which of the Nigerian companies in toy manufacturing are LEGO going to scramble for the toy market?
Well there are a lot of grey products. I can’t really pin-point any toy manufacturing company in Nigeria per se. All our people do is to go to the far east and get them to duplicate toys, that is why I qualify them as grey products. Go to Idumota market and other shops around, you will see all sorts of toys. The toy market is a big market but highly informal. It is not formalised, you will see children with comb, go to parties . But it is the level of attention that is not getting that is worrisome. That people just buy anything for the sake of buying. So when you talk about competition is fast and it is the grey area. But if you talk about sophisticated toys that can match LEGO products, you talk about Barbie. I don’t know whether anybody has franchise for it but I have seen it in some shops.
