Which Of The Following Places Did Constantine Make The Center Of Power For The Roman Empire?
After his conversion to Christianity in 312 (he is said to have had a dream that he would win victories if he took the Christian cross as his battle standard) Constantine formally recognised Christianity as a formal religion in the Roman Empire. Over the next decade he increasingly relied on the church to help him increase his power, and in 325 held a council of bishops at Nicea. In 330 he moved the capital and power centre of the Empire to the city of Byzantium (then Greek, now Turkish) on the River Bosporus. He renamed the city Constantinople after himself. Today Constantinople is called Istanbul.
