Which of the following diseases/disorders can cause child custody loss?
All of them COULD lead to loss of child custody if a risk to the children’s safety can be shown. But if the parent with any of these treatable illnesses (except the last one) has been a stable parent who was responsible for the child raising and their illness(es) only became an issue during divorce, then the first question I would raise with the court is that if the illnesses were so serious as to risk custody, what was other parent doing (ie. was it neglect on their part) letting the ill parent do the child rearing. Also, the party with the illnesses needs good medical care and even more importantly, a highly skilled and expert lawyer, with a whole bunch of expert witnesses who are prepared to testify on the ill parent’s behalf. Take care!
