USC would be the easiest to get into, although it, too, is very selective. There are two issues. Both UCLA and Cal are state universities, which means that they have to give preference to in-state residents, and since you are coming from out of state, that makes it more difficult for you (USC is private, and doesn’t have to worry about that). Also, because the state universities are much less expensive than a private school, they tend to attract huge numbers of applicants (I was at a UCLA alumni event last week and they told us that they got 56,000 applications this year). Fewer people apply to private schools like USC because they assume they can’t afford it. USC is tough to get into these days because their athletic success has made people across the country aware of them, but I still think it would be easier to get in there.
