These two applications are based on different protocols, and each has advantages over the other. To cover the widest range of online network drive usage, we offer both. But first, please note that IDrive Plus works only on 2000/XP, and may require firewall settings. Browse files and folders – IDrive is better due to its better file and directory caching. Edit, Cut-n-Paste, Drag-n-Drop, Delete small files – IDrive is faster. Edit, Cut-n-Paste, Drag-n-Drop, Delete large files – IDrive Plus is faster. Concurrent updates to Office files – IDrive Plus only. Streaming small Multi-Media files – IDrive Plus is better. Streaming large Multi-Media files – IDrive Plus only, IDrive would require a complete download before it can start streaming, IDrive Plus can start instantaneously. File Synchronization using third party applications – IDrive Plus is better. Backup using third party applications such as Veritas Backup – IDrive Plus only.
