Which nations in the Middle East should be considered our allies?
Jordan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Lebanon, Bahrain All of these countries have governments that have continued to support the UK and US despite some of their populations very unfavorable views of both. King Hussein of Jordan is the west’s chief mediator in the Middle East. He was educated in the United States and the UK and his wife is American. Saudi Arabia has strategic reasons that they will ALWAYS support the west. The only reason the Saudi Royal Family is able to maintain its hold on the populus is the oil reserves in the East and South. Lebanon is a representative democracy, albeit a very very weak one. The U.A.E., Kuwait and Bahrain are the stagging areas for all the west’s military operations in the region. And Egypt is an essential ally simply because it is one of the only governments that has normalized relations with groups like Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood.
