Which Muppets feature in the new “Carol of the Bells” video on YouTube?
Since debuting two weeks ago, the Muppet parody of the classic music video of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” has been viewed more than 10-million times on YouTube. It’s an exceptional hit for the first video posted on a new YouTube channel by the Muppets Studio. A promotional Twitter feed has also been launched, and an official Facebook page has been started. Muppets Studio general manager Lylle Breier said the online push for the Muppets was designed to help reboot the franchise and quickly get new content to fans. The purpose of the sudden Muppet expansion is mainly promotional. The studio is hoping to showcase the characters while rebuilding a more widespread interest in the brand. “When the Muppets came into real popularity was the ’70s. What was popular in the ’70s? Over the past couple weeks, I have watched The Muppets cover of Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” about 20 times. Few things have the ability to make me truly nostalgic, but suddenly I was seven years old, watching the Muppet Show in my pajamas. While we are still a couple of years away from Jason Segel’s The Cheapest Muppet Movie Ever Made, Jim Henson’s creations seem ready to make a comeback now, and this time they are doing it Christmas style. The MuppetsStudio channel on Youtube has released a new video, this time featuring The Swedish Chef, Beaker and Animal singing “Carol of the Bells.” Now, these three aren’t exactly the most coherent group, but they still rock the house none the less.
