Which microwave system gives the best performance – the turntable or the stirrer?
Microwave energy usually enters the oven cavity from the top and flows down. For best results, you must distribute the energy throughout the food during the entire cooking process. You either move the food through the waterfall of microwave energy (with a turntable), or distribute the energy before it reaches the food (with a stirrer system). If your microwave oven does not use a turntable, it probably has a stirrer system. For most everyday microwave cooking you won’t notice much difference between the two systems.
