Which mapping software will let me download adresses from a spreadsheet?
Hi Bill, As far as I know, none of the personal navigation devices allow a direct download from standard applications. It’s usually at least a two step process. For instance, with Garmin’s Nuvi devices you would need to export the information from a spreadsheet or database into a .CSV format, run the .CSV file through a converter (.CSV to .GPX), then load it into Garmin’s Mapsource program as waypoints. Once the data is in Mapsource you can transfer it to the Nuvi or other Garmin navigation device. Most other products, including laptop navigation programs, require something like that .. typically requiring the use of a conversion program in the middle. As far as I know, Microsoft’s Streets&Trips and Mappoint are the only navigation programs out there than can import directly from other applications.
