The text of the King James Version was reviewed by the Prophet and corrections were placed in notations of an early Bible. Some of these notations were kept by a scribe and others were in the book itself. The result is an incomplete set of notations from many scans. The changes were made when the original failed to convey the meaning that Joseph Smith said was the original intent of the author, whether or not there was any ancient manuscript to back it up. This process involved the use of the Urim and Thummim (also called seer stones) to receive instructions from God regarding changes that should be made. Occasionally entire passages were added that comprise several chapters. The JST is not official scripture for the Church, but The Pearl of Great Price contains the Book of Moses (Genesis with additions etc.) and another book that is called Joseph Smith-Matthew (an extended version of Matthew 24) which were added to the LDS canon of scripture in the 1850’s (These had been published as
