Which MA is more highly respected and useful: International Political Economy or International Relations?

International Relations is a long established subject. Political economy is too – in fact it was once more prominent than now. International Political Economy will focus on part of political economy. I would expect the two MAs to focus on different things. An International Relations degree will focus on things like international law and methods of diplomacy, and it will probably have quite a big historical component. It sill be mainly about relationships between states. An International Politcial Economy degree should deal more with international business and with financial relationships between different countries. If it has a good economics base it should have a mathematical and statistical component, which is unlikely to be the case for industrial relations. I would expect the two degrees to have different uses.
