Which light metering technique is best, incident or reflected?
In general, when you have some control over the light, the incident technique is preferred and where you do not, the reflected technique is preferred. There are exceptions even to this generalization. It is to your advantage to know and practice using both techniques, as there will be circumstances where it will be possible to use one but not the other.
