If you have to choose between Toshiba Tecra and HP Paveliano, I would strongly recommend you the Toshiba Tecra. I have been using a Toshiba Tecra M5 for 2 years now and got it on www.toshibadirect.

It is really about personal opinion when it comes to laptops now adays, they are almost equal in performance going from manufacturer to manufacturer. My personal opinion would be to go to Toshiba but that is because of the bad experience I had with my HP Pavilion DV6000 and their shoddy engineering and horrible, horrible tech support.

Toshiba first developed the laptop. They usually have better speakers. Dont rely on the two, just make sure you get what you pay for. Make sure you have at least 2gb of ram and a dual core processor. If you dont plan on using windows based programs, i recommend a MacBook or Macbook Pro.
