Which kneeboard is better quality?
This is written for anyone looking into kneeboard (or wakeski) design who stumble on this Q. Old Schooler’s answer (’80s kneeboard fanatic): 1st & foremost, Get your basic skills down before going fancy with a design. Think more about buoyancy (rotomold, etc) vs. reduced buoyancy (shell, etc). Buoyant rotomolds will plane faster (less stress on the arms during deepwater starts) and tend to sit flatter and pop easier. Reduced buoyancy kneeboards will plane slower, but give the option of backwards or side variant deepwater starts. Reduced buoyancy boards tend to edge deeper and easier (less need for fins to hold extreme cuts) and need to be finessed (edge & angle into the wake) at lower than ideal speeds to achieve equal pop. At ideal speed or faster they’re excellent, esp. on landings (less prone to wash out than rotomolds). Now to answer your Qs: Think of the tip as the tail when you’re riding switch (backwards). Square is going to offer the best pop, but will be easier to catch & trip
