Which job should I accept: Administrative Assistant in a hospital, or sales assistant in Matalan (retail)?
I’d say the hospital job because every business uses admin workers, but not every business has sales assistants, although skills gained there, especially dealing with customers, would come in useful in lots of other jobs. Also if it’s an NHS hospital they are a massive employer in the UK and of course it’s much easier to get a new job, even in a different area (I mean different work) if it’s for the company you already work for (assuming you are a good employee!). And of course if you ever needed to move the NHS has branches everywhere.
