Which is the most rust resistant car?Volvo?
My ex -gf bought a 2001 Volvo V70XC. She took it to the shop because of a persistent drivetrain noise. I was afraid it was the bevel gear, something that fails on these cars with regularity and is expensive to fix. It turns out that the entire underbody of the Volvo and the suspension and brake components were all thoroughly rusted by road salt. The Volvo was totaled by rust, and this was almost two years ago. I don’t know of this happening with any other car of such recent construction that hadn’t been wrecked and only had 65,000 miles. I’m not sure why anyone would put Volvos on a list of rust resistant vehicles.
