Which is the best way to organize beads?
I organize mine by type, then by color. As someone mentioned, it does depend a lot on what you do with them. It also makes a big difference on how many types you have. I am totally addicted to beading so I work with everything from semi precious gems to seed beads. Whether I want Swarovski crystals, or delica beads, or size 15 charlottes, or 8mm rhodocrosite, it is easier for me to go first to the type of bead I need, then get the color. Some examples: I have all my findings (ear wires, clasps, crimp beads, charms, etc.) in one (well, two) of those cabinets you get at the hardware store. I bought hanging tubes from Fire Mountain and hang all my seed beads on racks on a peg board. Those I normally need to grab to use with other beads in a project, so they are all visible and arranged by color. My Swarovski crystals and sterling beads are in the type of plastic boxes with dividers and individual locking tops. My semi precious stones are in jewelry trays (long shallow trays). My Chinese c
