Which is the best telescope available for a beginner in india?
My experience is that you could buy a mirror and build yourself a Dobsonian telescope for much less than anything you could buy as a finished telescope. You might even want to grind your own mirror. I recall stories of people using porthole glass from old ships! Most beginners find Alt-Az telescopes easy to use — they don’t have the ability to track the motion of the stars and planets, but this can be adapted with equatorial platforms which rotate synchronized with the earth. Another nice beginner scope is a small refractor — typically 80 to 100 millimeter diameter objective, 400 – 500 millimeter focal length (F5 focal ratio) — they are small light and reasonable in price (made in China, of course). Don’t expect to see the sky like large profesional observatories or the Hubble Space Telescope can.
