Free software i have used are spybot, adaware (lava software), avast, avg, avira, Panda and Kaspersky. The latter are useful because u can download a linux version and burn to a cd and boot to the cd and scan your xp outside of windows. Or just download latest version of SPYBOT on someone else’s pc (in case yours is infected), burn to a cd and then boot your pc into “safe mode with network support” and install and update and run Spybot. It may take a full hour to scan. U should do this 2 or 3 times. Again, assuming u are infected. if not, just down load one of the above and just use one. DO NOT INSTALL more than one at a time as they will both try to run and will really slow things down.
