Blogger is probably the most popular free blog host. It is owned by Google and offers blogs with subdomain names such as yourblogname.blogspot.com. They have quite a few features and offer the ability to export your site or host it on your own domain in the future. Their template selection is pretty good, and you have the ability to fully customize your blog look if you learn how to code the templates. Blogcharm was a good idea, since they actually pay you a small percentage of money earned from hits on your blog, but with the sale of their parent company BlogExplosion, they are in limbo now. To be honest there are just too many quirks left to work out and features missing to make it a real contender. Their hit or miss tech support is also a big drawback.
