assault rifles are designed with several objectives in mind and include rate of fire/stopping power/reliable in all theatres of war and conditions/least amount of working parts and be uncomplicated to name but a few and the only weapon that has all these capabilities is the AK47,this weapon superseded the AR15/16 many years ago and is now seen in just about every country in the world,it is a proven weapon and the standard assault rifle of any self respecting terrorist,it first saw service in 1947 and is now copied world wide and with the 7.62 rnd makes it versatile on the battlefield for inter changing ammunition,as for the worst example then i would cite the American M3(grease gun) .
