Which is the best antivirus for free downloading?
Both Avast! Home Edition and Avira AntiVir Personal are good (but some-what incomplete). Avast offers pretty much everything a commercial AV does but isn’t quite up on par with Avira’s detection-rates; and Avira lacks certain features (such as a ‘WebGuard’) that Avast includes. That being said, you’d do much better forking out some cash for a high rated commercial AV such as ESET NOD32, Kaspersky AV, or Avira AntiVir *Premium* (paid-for version); and get both higher-rates *and* the features.
