Which is safer – tempered or safety glass?
Tempered glass is manufactured or treated so that when a break occurs anywhere in the piece of glass the entire piece shatters into small pieces, perhaps the size of gravel. You can still get minor cuts but probably no major injuries because there are no large pieces. Safety glass is like the windshield on a car. It is basically two layers of tempered glass with a plastic film “sandwiched” between. The purpose of the film is to keep the small pieces of glass controlled so they don’t get thrown around if the glass is broken.
