Hi Newmom These artificial sweeteners should be avoided like the plague in my opinion. The answer is obvious in the use of the word ’artificial’. They are chemically derived and are a totally unnecessary part of the diet. I have never given any products containing these things to my children, and they have always been more than happy with fruit juice and water/ sparkling water, with the occasional sugary drink thrown in for good measure as a ’treat’. The damage done to the body by the use of these chemicals far exceeds that done by, not just fruit sugars, but processed sugar. I believe that it is only a matter of time before they are on a world wide ban. I made the decision to see the dentist more regularly and cut this junk out of my children’s diet when they were newborn, and took the option of taking a risk to teeth rather than brain, and none of them have suffered gum disease or cavities as a result.
