Which is more superior, Athens or the Roman republic?
It all depends on what you mean by “superior”. I think this is more an opinion based question than anything. The Romans conquored and controlled most of western Europe and even invaded modern day England where they built a stone wall (called Hadrian’s Wall) to show the boundary of their Empire. They conquored Greece, and Egypt (Julius Caesar and Cleopatria, ring a bell?). And they also defeated the Carthagians who ruled the seas of the Mediterrain at the time. However, Greek culture had a strong influence on Rome (they Romans adopted a lot of their religion, culture, and copied their laws, ideas, philosophy, ect.). Rome wouldn’t have become so great if it wasn’t for all the stuff they gleamed from Athens and the Greeks there. So, this is more like the chicken and the egg question. Is the one who conquored everything better, or the one who enabled them to get the power and knowledge to conquor everything? Look at Wikipedia to see what each contributed and compare and contrast to see whi
