Which is more racist BNP or the National Front? What do they think of each other?
That’s a tricky question. The National Front are more openly racist, in that they’re scarily honest about their motives and don’t dress themselves up in as much spin and rhetoric as the BNP do. The BNP are now scared of pushing away new voters with their controversial beliefs, so they have to be nicey-nicey whenever there are reporters around. However, ultimately they’re singing from the same songsheet. The NF are a spent force in many ways, and the BNP have become the party for extreme right-wing racists. The BNP are generally quite careful about what they say publically. Although they have the guaranteed vote from the ex-NF members and older supporters, who know exactly what the party is about, Griffin feels that to encourage a new wave of voters he must pretend that the party has changed
