Which is more important at a job interview – having a perfect presentation or arriving on time?
Both are important. Just because she might have succeeded in getting jobs over the last ten years doesn’t mean anything. I have been working in recruitment for the past five years and know that for many good jobs, there may have been only one qualified applicant going after the job. This certainly isn’t the case anymore, in the current economic situation, where there could be many, many good people going after the job. It’s likely that there is another candidate who can manage to do both a perfect presentation and get there on time. If one is applying for a junior role, then it may be feasible to reschedule the interview at short notice. At a more senior level, it simply isn’t. There will be more people involved with the interview and they will be of a senior level themselves, meaning that it probably already required a good deal of time and effort to get them all together in the first place, and trying to arrange this a second time may prove impossible.
