Which is more energy efficient, tankless electric bathroom water heater or stay w household gas conventional tank ?
It sounds wonderful, and I’ve seen a TV program in which this was done. The bathroom on that program was off the den and was going to have light hot water demand, i.e., occasional overnight guests. It sounds to me like you’re planning to use this bathroom on a daily basis. If that’s the case, I wouldn’t do it. It’s one thing to inconvenience an overnight guest, it’s another thing to live with daily hassle. Connect to the whole house OR install a separate 30-gallon water heater for that bathroom. If you choose that option, you can have your plumber “serialize” the two hot water tanks so that the entire house takes advantage of the entire capacity. In other words, if you have 40 gallon tank in the basement, and install a 20 or 30 gallon tank in your second bathroom, then you’d hve 60 to 70 gallon total capacity for the entire house. Pretty nice. The main reason I wouldn’t go tankless is that if it’s as wonderful as it is said to be, why aren’t home builders putting them in new homes? Thi
