Which is faster a stock standard 250 4 stroke or a yz 125 2 stroke?
The smoother power distribution on the 4 strokes make them faster as you have already found out racing in the junior lites against the 4 strokes. You only have to look at senior racing especially at higher levels and you will see that there is not one rider lined up on a 2 stroke 125cc against the 4 strokes as they are not as competitive and basically only an option for junior riders. Sometimes the classes in junior lites where i am are split and the 2 strokes run on their own so riders still have the 125cc 2 strokes so they can ride both classes but if combined they will ride their 4 stroke. You will be developing some really good skills on your bike as I know my son used to race a 2 stroke against the 4 strokes when younger and he used to have to ride the pants off it to win. That is fine but you may not have gotten my meaning. The fact that the even power delivery of the 4 stroke makes the ride easier which is not the case on a 2 stroke and one mistake makes the rider loose ground.
